Join Our Biking Group Activities

Building a community of support, understanding, and friendship.

Participants in our group are able to come together and form meaningful connections, while also learning how to better cope with their disabilities. Where possible we plan activities that include family members or friends to support someone impacted by a stroke or disability.

Weekly Get Togethers

John Hay (Chairman) of the Aphasia and Disability Biking Group Canterbury

Our weekly bike rides, which normally take place on a Friday are a great way to get together to enjoy the outdoors.

Our rides enable participants to meet new people and make it easy to form friendships.

Annual Bike Trips

Annual bike trip for the Aphasia and Disability Biking Group Canterbury.

Annual bike trips for the group began informally in 2017 with the completion of the Otago Rail Trail. Our group has since completed other bike rides in the South Island with the next trip planned for Nelson in 2024.

Where possible, we try to remove barriers to participation by fundraising, seeking grants or sponsorship for our riders. This enables us to provide appropriate transport, accommodation and assistance to our participants with their disabilities.

Please Note:

To ensure that we can meet the needs of our participants, annual bike trips are currently restricted to 25 participants. (20 aphasia & disability riders, plus 5 support riders).
